RAISING RAVENS (レージング・レイブンズ) は、オーストラリア人アーティスト、ジェス・フィンレイソンの新しい音楽プロジェクト。レイジング・レイブンズは、無視されがちなトピックに焦点を当てた、ハードなロックベースのプロジェクトで、世界的かつ個人的に経験した権力の乱用や、その乱用が翻弄される人々に与える影響に関連したテーマに触れている。影響を受けたアーティストは、ブラック・サバス、ホール、パティ・スミス、PJ ハーヴェイ、カイアス、フリートウッド・マック、ソープ・ガールズ、プラシーボなど。シドニーの女性ハードロック バンド、NITOCRISのリード・ギタリストとしてスタートし、その後悪名高いファイヤーフライズに参加したジェスは、15歳の頃から国内外をツアーし、作曲やレコーディングを行ってきた。最近では、2019年に解散したTHE MIS-MADEの創設メンバーで、リード・シンガー／ギタリストであった。 レイジング・レイヴンズは、最近デビューEP『IN MY ROOM』をリリースしたが、これはフィンレイソンのレーベル、インターローパー・レコードにとって初の作品でもある。フルレングスアルバム「LEAVING WITH THE HALFLIGHT」は2023年にリリースされ、国内外でツアーを行った。 次回2024年5月にリリース予定のEP「MOTIVES」は、人間性のダークサイドと、最悪な人間が何を動機としてそのような行動に出るのかを描いた、容赦なく、無愛想なコンセプト・ピースとなっている。 すべてのリリースはINTERLOPER RECORDSで購入可。RAISING RAVENSは2024年に初めて日本ツアーを行い、2025年後半に再びツアーを行う予定だ。
Raising Ravens is the new musical project for Australian artist, Jess Finlayson. Raising Ravens is a hard-hitting rock-based project focusing on topics that tend to be swept under the carpet or ignored and touches on subjects relating to worldwide and personally experienced abuses of power and the effects those abuses have on those who are at its mercy. Influences include Black Sabbath, Hole, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, Kyuss, Fleetwood Mac, The Soap Girls, Placebo etc. Starting out as the lead guitarist for all female hard-rock renegades, Nitocris followed by the infamous Fyreflyes, Jess has been touring nationally and internationally, writing and recording since the age of 15. Most recently being the founding member, lead singer/guitarist for The Mis-Made who disbanded in 2019. Raising Ravens recently released the debut EP, 'In My Room' which was also the first for Finlayson's label, Interloper Records. The full length album, Leaving With The Halflight was released in 2023 and saw the band tour nationally and internationally. The next EP 'Motives' will be out in May 2024 and is an unrelenting, unapologetic concept piece about the dark side of human nature and what motives the worst of us to do the things they do. All releases can be found at INTERLOPER RECORDS. RAISING RAVENS toured Japan for the first time in 2024 and are scheduled to tour again in late 2025.
